Foster A Pet
Edson Animal Rescue Society (E.A.R.S.) is entirely foster home-based, meaning all our animals live in loving homes rather than a facility. Foster homes are crucial to our success and the well-being of our animals.

Why Foster?
Increase Our Capacity: The more foster homes we have, the more animals we can save.
Feel Great: Fostering is one of the most important and rewarding roles in rescue.
Boost Adoption Chances: Fostering increases the likelihood of adoption and significantly reduces the chances of an animal being returned.
Have Fun: You get to teach your foster animal what it means to be a happy, loved family pet.
Requirements for Fostering:
Age and Agreement: Must be 18 years or older and have all household members in agreement.
Pet Health: All current pets in the home must be up-to-date on vaccinations (some exceptions allowed) and spayed/neutered, unless there is a reasonable explanation (e.g., medical condition).
Transportation: Must have reliable transportation for vet appointments and adoption events.
Environment: Ideally, a fenced yard for dog fosters, but this can vary based on the dog and circumstances.
Responsibilities of a Foster Home:
Safe Environment: Provide a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.
Care and Enrichment: Provide exercise, socialization, and enrichment opportunities.
Patience and Understanding: Be patient while your foster animal adjusts to a new home.
Vet Visits: Take your foster animal to vet appointments if required.
Documentation: Work with the EARS team to provide a bio and photos of your foster animal.
Facilitate Adoptions: When an application is approved, help with home checks and meet and greets with potential adopters.
Fostering a pet not only saves the life of the animal you bring into your home but also creates space for another animal in need. By providing a temporary, loving environment, you help your foster pet become more adoptable, increasing their chances of finding a forever home. This ripple effect means that every foster home opens the door for multiple animals to be rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed, ultimately saving countless lives and giving more animals the chance to experience love and care.
